The Course
Originally designed by Tom Field in 1926, Kloof Country Club’s golf course was re-imagined into an 18-hole layout in 1929 by Stafford Vere Hotchkin. The course is now home to the prestigious Champion of Champions tournament for the Kwa-Zulu Natal region, having been contested since the early 1970’s.
Set in a truly remarkable location, the course offers sweeping views that stretch all the way to Durban’s beaches, surrounded by lush, indigenous flora and fauna. The Penncross bent grass, known for its resilience to winter temperatures, ensures the course remains scenic and in excellent condition throughout the year. Water features are strategically placed to add both interest and challenge, while the club’s position within a nature conservancy offers a chance to spot local wildlife, including Woolly Necked Storks, African Hoopoes, and Crested Barbets.
The halfway house is a popular stop, perfect for refueling mid-round. After a game, head to the Member’s bar or our Greenside Bunker to unwind with a refreshing drink, enjoy friendly service, and mingle with the locals in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Clubhouse also offers spacious, well-equipped changerooms with showers, allowing golfers to refresh and relax after a round.

Men
At Kloof Country Club, golf is all about good company, great competition, and enjoying the game in a world-class setting. Our Men’s Golf section brings members together for regular rounds, light-hearted banter, and serious golfing spirit. Wednesdays and Saturdays are Men’s Golf days, where members tee off in friendly competition and catch up with familiar faces.
After the round, it’s tradition to head to the Leopard Bar—our members’ bar and the social heart of the club. It’s where prize giving happens, stories are shared, and the day winds down over a cold one.
With a calendar full of league matches, club comps and casual play, there’s always something happening. Whether you’re playing to win or just out for a good walk, the Men’s Golf community offers the perfect mix of sport and camaraderie.
Our Men’s Golf Captain is Andy Forde, and with his leadership, our Men’s Golf section thrives and grows!

Ladies
Our Ladies’ Golf section is all about community, confidence, and enjoying the game. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just getting started, you’ll find a warm, welcoming group of ladies who love their golf and a good laugh along the way.
Thursdays are Ladies’ Member days, with regular competitions, fun formats, and a relaxed vibe on and off the course. After the game, ladies gather to catch up, celebrate the day’s winners, and enjoy a well-earned break.
With a mix of social games, league fixtures, and friendly coaching available, our Ladies’ Golf offers something for every level of player—no pressure, just great golf and even better company.
Our Ladies Golf Captain is Atri Wilson and she is ably supported by her Ladies Golf committee.
Â
Juniors
Our Junior Golf programme is all about growing the game and having fun while learning it. From young beginners to competitive teens, we offer a safe and encouraging space for kids to learn the basics, improve their skills, and build confidence both on and off the course.
Coaching clinics, holiday programmes, and junior competitions keep things exciting, while our PGA-accredited coach focuses on technique, etiquette, and most importantly, enjoying the game.
Golf is a great way for juniors to stay active, make friends, and be part of a supportive club environment. We’re proud to help grow the next generation of South African golfers at Kloof Country Club.
